In general, I believe that a billboard mentality and compelling offer work best in banners, but target and placement also factor into determining the proper execution. I’ve created banners with multiframe messaging that performed at three times the industry average because they contained pain points that resonated with the target.
I believe that landing pages should have one conversion goal. Emails should be streamlined for deliverability and preview pane viewing. And above all, I believe in testing and analytics.
